GRIEF
First we need to talk about the death of your parent(s) and how you’re doing. When someone dies, we go through a process, sometimes called STAGES OF GRIEF. If we don’t go through the process or don’t do it well, it can cause us problems with our behavior or emotions.
Here are the basics:

HEALTH
You need to look after your body and mind. Sad to say, but YOU might have to do the grown-up parts, too. You might have to arrange for insurance, make appointments, get tests, keep records, and more. It’s a lot of work, but we’ll walk you through it.
The most important thing is to keep up with your doctor (Pediatrician, Family Physician, or General Practitioner). It should be the doctor you have seen the most or seen most recently. Check in with them and make an appointment soon–a family member or adult friend or teacher can help you. Tell them about your life. Tell them what you’re dealing with. Trust them to help.
MENTAL HEALTH:
You need a therapist and/or psychiatrist, not because you’re broken. Please, please, please understand that you are not broken–or weird or doomed or anything like that.
Because you’re dealing with very serious trauma, though, the more help you have from a therapist, psychiatrist, and life coach, the better off you’ll be. And the sooner you get the help, the better.
PHYSICAL HEALTH:
You may need insurance–it is a fact of life in American healthcare. Don’t let your coverage lapse. Medicaid is a good option. Healthcare.gov is a good place to start. You may have your teacher, friend, or counselor help you. Or else contact us directly here for help.
